Changes to Cask ABV
The distillery’s main aim for a cask is to provide the highest quality new make spirit to fill into an owners chosen casks, depending on the individual mash fermentations and distillation process spirit abv may vary from cask to cask.
Due to the nature of cask construction, exact volumes can not be guaranteed, if a cask volume is + or – 3% in terms of quoted cask volume, Baoilleach Distillery may ask to payment for extra spirit or may provide a repayment to the cask owner for spirit which has not been filled into the cask.
During maturation alcohol evaporates from the cask, the first year may have up to a 4% loss in spirit abv and between 2-2.5% on going per annum. This is what’s known as the Angles share, losses in excess or below these rates may occur and will ultimately depend on each individual cask, Baoilleach Distillery cannot be held responsible for these natural losses, this loss in alcohol is a natural part of Irish Whiskey Maturation.
If a cask owner wishes to transfer their spirit into a different cask then the one provided by Baoilleach Distillery, the distillery needs to be notified in writing with the details of the new cask and a cask transfer fee will be payable. The original cask will be the owners property.
Shared Ownership Casks
When a cask has multiple owners, Baoilleach Distillery will not act on any request until all cask owners have agreed in writing to that request.
